Under the goals of carbon peaking and carbon neutrality, the share of renewable energy will continue to rise in the future, with new energy storage serving as the key to high-quality development in the new energy sector. At the 2024 National People's Congress and Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference sessions, new energy storage was included in the Government Work Report for the first time. The Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee's energy meeting proposed leveraging the advantages of the national system to strengthen technological breakthroughs in long-duration energy storage. Zhang Jianhua, Member of the Party Leadership Group of the National Development and Reform Commission and Secretary of the Party Leadership Group and Director of the National Energy Administration, published a signed article in Current Affairs Report, proposing to prioritize the advancement of energy storage technologies such as flow batteries and compressed air. New energy storage and long-duration energy storage have now been elevated to a national strategy.


On August 9, the CFE2024 China Southern Flow Battery Energy Storage Public Welfare Salon, themed “National Flow Battery Industry Promotion Tour: Entering the Greater Bay Area,” concluded successfully in Guangzhou. This event was jointly organized by the Asian Flow Battery Industry Alliance (in preparation), Guangzhou Institute of Energy Conversion, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Guangdong Provincial Key Laboratory of Fuel Cell Technology, China Ocean Energy Storage, Zhonghe Energy Storage, Yifu Energy, Shuntian Equipment, Yimida, EK Energy Storage Temperature Control, Xinhui Technology, Global Flow Battery Network, and Global Flow Battery Storage (WeChat Official Account). This event brought together enterprises, experts, and research institutions from the upstream and downstream industries of the southern China flow battery sector, including Guangdong and Hunan provinces, for the first time. Its aim was to strengthen communication and cooperation across the industrial chain, promote mutual integration, foster win-win collaboration, and jointly drive development.
